In 2011, the Hispanic Alliance for the Performing Arts launched Austin Soundwaves in collaboration with the University of Texas College Of Fine Arts. The Austin Soundwaves currently offers free, intensive musical education to low-income youth from Travis and Hays Counties that attend East Austin College Prep (EAPrep), a charter school located in the heart of East Austin. Austin Soundwaves is designed to support these students with a quality musical education that widens pathways to college and develops cultural participation for participants.
