PROGRAMS

Chamber Music Scholarship Program

The Chamber Music Scholarship Program is a collaboration between Austin Civic Orchestra (ACO) and Austin Soundwaves to provide post-high school financial assistance to current high school students from a scholarship funded by the Austin Community Foundation. A small ensemble of up to five student musicians will be chosen through a competitive application and interview process. The selected ensemble will meet monthly to rehearse and will be coached by Austin Soundwaves teaching staff members. The ensemble will receive at least five 2-hour coaching sessions led by an Austin Soundwaves teaching staff member.

The program will culminate in a public performance before an ACO concert in the spring. There will be additional public performance opportunities provided by Austin Soundwaves throughout the year. In addition to participating in the scholarship ensemble, selected students will be invited to participate in Austin Soundwaves community programs.

Each member of the selected ensemble will receive $1000 to support their study after high school. This award will be paid directly to the institution or school of the students choosing by the Austin Community Foundation.

Austin Soundwaves students rehearse for chamber ensemble performance.
