Join us for Beyond Belonging: a vibrant evening connected by music, presented by Gary Cooper and Richard Hartgrove, on Friday, April 22nd at the beautiful Roof Garden of the downtown Austin Central Library. This event provides a wonderful opportunity for staff, alumni, students, and friends of Austin Soundwaves to celebrate together with music, wine, food, and community. In lieu of a formal seated dinner at assigned tables, there will be multiple heavy appetizers and drinks offered throughout the evening in order to allow all of our guests to enjoy each other’s company throughout the space both inside and outside.
Proceeds from Beyond Belonging will directly support Austin Soundwaves and our in-school and community programming, which serves over 650 students across 14 partner schools in the Austin metroplex and beyond, and includes orchestra and band support sectionals and lessons, afterschool instruction, Mariachi Para Todos, the Community Symphony, and the Draylen Mason Fellows Program.

Daniela Santiago started playing viola with Austin Soundwaves in 2015 but discovered her true musical passion as a guitarist in our 2017 mariachi ensemble. Daniela was accepted to attend the Interlochen Arts Academy in Michigan for her junior year on viola. She graduated in 2021 as a classical guitar major and is currently attending the University of Southern California Thornton School of Music on a full scholarship to continue her classical guitar studies. She is also a past Draylen Mason Fellow and a featured young artist on From The Top.
As part of her week in Austin leading up to Beyond Belonging, Daniela will serve as our first ever Resident Artist, teaching lessons and giving presentations to our partner school programs.
We care about the safety of all staff, students, supporters, and guests we welcome to Austin Soundwaves events such as Beyond Belonging. We are closely monitoring health and safety guidelines protocols set forth by the City of Austin and Travis County health officials and will follow recommendations accordingly.
