IDEA Montopolis - Sustainable Music Program Lunch and Learn
We were grateful to share just a little bit of the work we do at one of our partner schools, IDEA-Montopolis, through our first Sustainable Music Program Lunch and Learn of the new year. We work closely with IDEA’s music directors, Dr. Felipe Brito (band) and Jessica MacNair (orchestra), to support students through sectionals and in-ensemble rehearsals for over 20 hours per week on-site. Guests on this visit also included current board member, Cliff Archey, and advisory council member, Melissa Ruof, and they got to see the advanced orchestra in rehearsal with Ms. MacNair, as well as our teaching artists in action in cello and bass sectionals.
IDEA Montopolis is one of several school partnerships where our work is focused on sustainability and not getting the program up and running with our teaching staff taking the lead. The band and orchestra program is in great hands with Dr. Brito and Ms. MacNair, so Austin Soundwaves helps to ensure that they have the resources needed to continue providing equitable, high-quality music learning for the students as the program continues to blossom and grow.
