Meet the team!

This year we welcomed several new staff members and teaching artists. With the addition of new staff, we are able to serve more schools in the Austin area! We would like to introduce you to three employees who are helping make Austin Soundwaves’s mission successful in three unique ways: leading programs, operationally, and serving our students directly.

Dr. Frank Jenkins manages and supports the teaching staff and program events across our 14 partner schools in the Austin metroplex. He is a big part of strengthening and facilitating the needs of our growing program this year as we continue to serve over 650 students! Frank plays the cello with the Austin Symphony and volunteers with local pet therapy group, Divine Canines.

Alyssa Sanchez serves as the operations assistant for Austin Soundwaves. She manages the communication and social media plans, coordinates our HR needs, and works as part of the development team. She is a 2014 graduate of the University of Texas. Alyssa played clarinet in high school marching band and is currently learning the ukulele.

Andrea Beyer is a double bass teaching artist and has experience working with similar organizations, including El Sistema El Salvador. In addition, she taught bass and music theory for six months at the Edward Said National Conservatory in Jerusalem and Ramallah. Before working for Austin Soundwaves, she was a bass fellow with the New World Symphony in Miami.
