School Partner Spotlight: IDEA Montopolis
IDEA Montopolis College Prep has had an eventful Fall semester with many performance opportunities! We're grateful to have the opportunity to work with IDEA students for 20 hours each week, providing group sectionals, lessons, and in-class support. In September, the band performed at the school's Hispanic Heritage assembly led by Austin Soundwaves teaching artist and IDEA Montopolis band director, Dr. Felipe Brito. In addition, a small group of these band and orchestra students performed at our Fall Into Music drive kickoff concert at the KMFA Draylen Mason Music studio in November. The band also helped cheer on and support IDEA's volleyball and basketball teams by performing at a few games this semester.
The middle and high school orchestra and band held their winter concert this month (if you look closely, you can spot a couple of our teaching artists performing along with them) - check out a recording of the high school orchestra performing below! Next semester, the IDEA Montopolis music program will add two new classes, including a violin club and a 5th-grade band. Special shout-out to orchestra director Jessica MacNair and band director Dr. Felipe Brito for all their hard work with these amazing students!
