Getting ready for a new school year

Getting ready for a new school year

As a we wrap up summer programming (and vacations!), we want to celebrate a wonderful Summer Music Camp final concert late last week! Thanks to all of the students in our Headstart and Academy programs for a great week of music-making.

Each half-day camp cohort participated in daily rehearsals, masterclasses, guest workshops, and individual and group sectionals. We performed over 30 minutes of music learned over the course of less than 5 days - but it was so amazing and exciting to see and hear how much each camp grew as a musician throughout the week.

Kudos to our staff, especially directors Erika Perera and Jessica MacNair, for getting the students prepared in such a short amount of time. Thanks also to all of the families of our campers for helping them prepare at home and getting them to our camp, generously provided by Bertha Sadler Means Young Women’s Leadership Academy, an Austin ISD middle school. We’re grateful to Bertha Sadler Means orchestra director, Abigail Hammond, for her support of Summer Music Camp!

We can’t wait to see everyone next summer!
