Patrick Slevin Honored by Musical America

Patrick Slevin, our longtime executive director at Austin Soundwaves, has been selected as one of the Top 30 Professionals of the Year by Musical America.

Subtitled “The Movers. The Shakers. The Creators.”, the Top 30 are chosen from a pool across America and are recognized for their contributions to music through their service. According to the publication, “[This year’s class] are the creative minds that ensure the health of the artform and its essential value in our lives, now and for generations to come.”

“I’m honored to be chosen and included with so many other incredible people from across the United States,” said Patrick Slevin, who was surprised with the award late in 2023.

“It’s especially meaningful for me because the former dean of Northwestern’s Music School, where I studied percussion, is among the 30 professionals chosen. Dean Toni-Marie Montgomery was and is such an inspiration and I’m humbled we share the same cover.”
