TATI Southwest Regional Practicum

Last week, Austin Soundwaves had the opportunity to participate in the Teaching Artists Training Institute (TATI) Southwest Regional Practicum. The guest clinician was Dr. Lorrie Heagy of Juneau Alaska Music Matters (JAMM). Several of our teaching artists learned about culturally responsive teaching and growth mindset through the powerful integration of the Tlingit language, group drumming, writing word raps, and much more. Participants also had the opportunity to teach in front of each other, engaging in a cycle of peer feedback to continue strengthening their teaching practices.
