Austin Achieve Instrument Petting Zoo
Introducing our newest musicians - we were so excited to help recruit for next school year at Austin Achieve Middle School and High School last week! Band teaching artists Stephen, Jorge, and Angie, AAHS band director Michael Galvan, and band education manager Mary assisted AAMS band director Timmon Aportadera demonstrate wind, brass, and percussion instruments for 5th graders interested in band this coming fall.
These instrument “petting zoos” are an opportunity for students to try out the various options available to them and find the perfect match for the next school year. They buzzed clarinet, trumpet, and trombone mouth pieces, tried out flutes, experienced a few percussion instruments, listened to demos from our teaching artists, and asked questions about what life is like as a band student and musician. Just imagine: in just 6 months from now, they will all be performing in their first concert!
