Last week, Austin Soundwaves had the opportunity to participate in the Teaching Artists Training Institute (TATI) Southwest Regional Practicum. The guest clinician was Dr. Lorrie Heagy of Juneau Alaska Music Matters (JAMM).

Cecilia now works at Webb Middle School, teaching guitar and orchestra, and our team has enjoyed supporting her in this new role.
Read MoreWilliam (pictured right with his wife, Linda) played this trombone in middle and high school, ultimately earning first chair in the regional band. He eventually passed his trombone onto his son Matthew when he joined band in middle school. Matthew was later surprised with a new trombone that he used in the marching band during all four years of high school in Pflugerville. The family donated both William and Matthew's trombones to Austin Soundwaves in October.

We kicked off the morning with a performance by our lead teaching artists at the ground level of the Pease Park treehouse. It was great to see many of the children in attendance dancing to some of the performances, especially We Don’t Talk About Bruno, from Disney’s Encanto.
